Set the Wireless Mode to Client Bridge on wl1 i can get the correct ip (handled by te main router) when connecting to the 5ghz network. The dhcp is already turned off on the repeater. Turn them off or set as DHCP forwarders, so the DHCP server on the main router handles the ip addresses. Is there DHCP servers running on the repeaters? i've been struggling for a few weeks now and really dont know what to do! I've attached a printscreen of my wireless configuration for the rt-n66u in case my description wasn't clear. How should i setup the 2,4ghz radio so it can bridge correctly and make the dhcp assigned the ip for the clients? I've tested the same situation connecting to the 5ghz virtual interface and it works fine (aka i can get an ip from the dhcp server), and doing the same thing on repeater 1 also works. In otherwords, if the client is in range of repeater 2 and connects for the first time (or the dhcp ip has leased) on the 2,4ghz network the device won't assigned an ip to it, so from what i understand the dhcp from the main router isn't adressing through the repeater.
Those configurations worked fine and i can walk around with my laptop with a strong signal and clients change between main router and repeater 2 seamless.īUT this only work with the client has been already recognised by the main router, that is, has already connect once directly to the main router and, therefore, has already an ip on the dhcp that hasn't leased yet. I also wanted to repeat the 2,4ghz signal, so on the 2,4ghz radio settings i set-up the configurations to run as an AP and set the same SSID of the main router (home) BUT since its an AP and in order to no have a conflict with the main router signal i set the channel to 1 so it wont overlap with the 40mhz signal that is already stablished. So, i went trough the wiki for a repeater bridge and set the 5ghz radio as a repeater bridge with the same SSID (home5) of the main router and created a virtual interface (SSID: home5) so clients can connect to the network on this device.
Since this router is dual band, i've installed dd-wrt v24-sp2 and used the 5ghz radio to do a bridge between it and the main router. Repeater 2: Use to repeat to another part of the house, this is the RT-N66U, and wheres the problem that i can't solve. Repeater 1: TPLINK with DD-wrt (Atheros chipset) used to repeat the 2,4ghz signal to one part of the house, and just repeating the channel 11 signal with a 20mhz band with the same SSID. Main Router: RT-AC66u connected directly to the modem and broadcasting two signals, one on 5ghz 40mhz with primary channel 159( SSID: home5), and other on 2,4ghz 40mhz with primary channel 11 (SSID:home). I'm trying to cover my house with wireless signal allover it, so i can roam and access my network at all the places with a significant wireless signal since i have a 100mpbs link which i dont want to go wasted =) Hi everyone! first i would like to thanks any response to this issue, as i've been looking around for an answer for while now i didn't quite get a solid one on that.
